Fifth Third Bank Opens New Smyrna Branch

The newest location is the bank's third branch in Smyrna, but the first to offer the bank's Next Gen approach, catered to digital banking.

SMYRNA, GA — Fifth Third Bank opened a new location Monday in Smyrna, featuring the bank's newest Next Gen design and approach catered toward digital banking.

The bank, located at 4520 S. Cobb Drive, celebrated the grand opening with a ribbon cutting ceremony Monday — also Fifth Third's bank holiday, Fifth Third Day — with the Cobb Chamber of Commerce and other city officials.

It's the third Smyrna branch of Fifth Third Bank, but the second in Georgia to open as part of Fifth Third's retail expansion plan announced in 2019, according to a news release.

“As Smyrna and Cobb keeps growing, it is important that we continue to welcome businesses that will support our local community,” Cobb Chamber President and CEO Sharon Mason said. “Fifth Third Bank has been an outstanding company involved and committed to our community. We look forward to the opening of their new financial center location in Smyrna that will serve as a great resource for residents.”

The rising role of digital tools changed the way customers use retail bank branches, which is why Fifth Third Bank offers its Next Gen approach at some locations.

This Next Gen branch features:

  • Mobile bankers using technology that allows them to meet and serve customers in different settings. Rather than having teller “windows,” the new space gives employees the freedom to move around the lobby with individual tablet computers.
  • A tech wall with a digital screen.
  • Flexible meeting and seating areas, with adjustable privacy layers depending on the need and the type of conversation taking place.

To celebrate the new location and Fifth Third Day, the bank also partnered with the Smyrna Public Safety Foundation to provide a food drive where select local schools picked up food boxes this past Sunday for distribution. Fifth Third also plans to partner with the Atlanta Community Food Bank to help local families.

“This financial center is representative of our growth in Georgia and on how we will engage with our clients in the future,” said Dewayne King, Fifth Third Bank retail executive for Georgia. “It will be an honor to open this branch on our bank holiday — Fifth Third Day — which is a occasion to celebrate our employee, customers and community at large.”
