  1. A Good Samaritan who was injured in hit-and-run Tuesday evening helped Cobb County investigators identify the suspect's vehicle. A passenger driving a Honda Accord in nearby Austell stopped on Cardell Road due to engine trouble. A neighbor saw the stopped car, and offered to help when he was injured due to a passing Lexus colliding into the Honda. Before he was taken to the hospital, the Good Samaritan was able to tell officers crucial information about the suspect vehicle, and police ultimately found the driver, who was arrested and transported to the Cobb Adult Detention Center. 2. Up the road in Marietta, registration is now open to compete in Marietta's annual "Scarecrows in the Square" event, allowing local groups and organizations wishing to display their creativity and promote their organization. The scarecrows will be on view in Glover Park the week of Oct. 2, and the winning scarecrow will be named at the annual Harvestfest event on Saturday, Oct. 21. Registration closes on Sep. 22. (Cobb County Courier)
  3. The Smyrna Fire Department will be hosting its second annual Community Engagement Open House at Station 1 on Saturday, Sep. 16 starting at 10:00 a.m. Come out and meet your local firefighters, take a tour of the station, try on their turnout gear, and more!
