Here are the top three stories in Smyrna-Vinings today:

  1. As part of the upcoming Smyrna Hispanic Heritage Celebration on Sep. 23, there will be a new Youth Art Contest added to the slate of festivities. The theme is "What My Heritage Means to Me," and young artists between ages 5 and 18 are invited to submit artwork including drawings, paintings, sculptures, poems, and photographs. Volunteers from the Smyrna Arts Council will select one winner from each age group, who will be honored at the celebration. (City of Smyrna)
  2. In case you missed it, Cobb County recently announced the return of its popular "Truck-a-Palooza" event, taking place this year on Sep. 16. Children and adults will have the opportunity to explore heavy vehicles, including SWAT trucks, dump trucks, fire trucks, police cars, and more. Tickets are $5 per person (maximum $20 per family, up to six family members), and all proceeds benefit the Cobb County Safety Village. (Cobb County Courier)
  3. Don't forget: the Smyrna Public Library Children & Young Adult's Book Sale is this weekend! The sale will run today from 10:15 a.m. through 4:00 p.m. and will continue on Sunday from 1:00-4:00 p.m. Come support your local library and check out the huge selection of books.
