Here are the top three stories in Smyrna-Vinings today:

  1. Artie Dumas, a 60-year-old pedestrian, was tragically killed in a hit-and-run incident in Cobb County on Monday. The driver turned himself in two days later after evidence was found at the scene. Eyewitnesses reported that the driver briefly exited the vehicle, observed the injured Dumas, and then fled. The incident highlights concerns about pedestrian safety and the need for better street design to prevent such tragedies. (11 Alive)
  2. Seven Cobb County firefighters are facing disciplinary actions after an internal investigation revealed they cheated on a state certification exam by collaborating and sharing answers. Four firefighters were demoted from lieutenant to engineer, while two engineers and one firefighter were suspended without pay. Fire Chief William Johnson expressed disappointment in their actions, emphasizing the department's commitment to ethical behavior and signaling a review of related courses and procedures. (Marietta Patch)
  3. Local rapper Fremondo Crenshaw, known as YSL Mondo and co-founder of the YSL music crew with Young Thug, has been arrested on gun, drug, and gang-related charges following a search of his home. Cobb County police, along with federal agents and GBI agents, conducted the search after Crenshaw missed a court date related to a previous arrest for strangling a woman. Authorities discovered drugs, cash, and multiple guns, resulting in several felonies including violating the Street Gang Terrorism and Prevention Act; though the specific gang affiliation isn't named, sources confirm his connection to YSL. He faces charges in both DeKalb and Cobb Counties. (WBSTV)
