- A man who walked out of a Smyrna restaurant without paying was arrested on murder charges. According to local police, Brian Garfield Fort and his friends accumulated a $100 bill at The Juicy Crab and attempted to leave the restaurant before settling it. Authorities later discovered Fort was wanted in connection with a murder case, leading to his subsequent arrest later in DeKalb County. (WSB Atlanta)
- A community meeting has been scheduled for Jun. 20 to gather input on a large, multi-use development planned near Cobb's Town Center. Strategic Real Estate Partners will present its proposal for a spacious project spanning 57 acres, which includes townhomes, a senior-living apartment building, retail and restaurant space, and office warehouse facilities. Residents are encouraged to attend the meeting from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Community Bible Church in Kennesaw to share their feedback before the county considers the project in August. - The Smyrna Library will be hosting a "Celebrate Freedom" Juneteenth concert this Sunday, Jun. 18. The performance will run from 3:00-4:00 p.m. and is free for all ages to attend.
