- Smyrna-Vinings father Dave Taylor was honored by his family for his thoughtful advice and for "going all out" for others. Taylor was nominated by Marisa Taylor in a celebration of dads for Father's Day sponsored by Patch and T-Mobile. Marisa says her dad is generous, thoughtful, "goes all out for you," and enjoys helping others. You can nominate your dad by Jun. 15 here. (Smyrna-Vinings Patch)
- The City of Smyrna wants to remind residents that the office will be closed to observe the Juneteenth holiday on Monday Jun. 19. Public safety services will be operating as normal. There will be no yard waste collection during the week of the holiday. (City of Smyrna, GA Government via Facebook)
- New cocktail lounge Forum Cocktail Co. featuring a hidden speakeasy opens today at the Works in nearby Underwood Hills. The lounge will serve tapas-style eats such as charcuterie boards and meatballs in red sauce. The cocktails feature classic creations and originals such as the Sweet Symphony. - The High Museum of Art presents an exhibit featuring art works from 2,500 years ago when Nubia Royalty presided over Egypt. 'Ancient Nubia: Art of the 25th Dynasty From the Collection of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston' is now open and will run through Sept. 3. ( The Atlanta Journal Constitution)
- The Smyrna Business Association along with the Smyrna Public Safety Foundation are hosting Alive After Five on Thursday, Jun. 15 at the Smyrna Police Training Center from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. This is a terrific happy hour event with networking and cocktails. - In case you missed it, on Jun. 8, the Keep Smyrna Beautiful organization held a community clean-up day. Volunteers cleaned up 106 pounds of litter that included 42 pounds of recyclable material from Benson Pool Road. Cleaning litter in the area helps wildlife and benefits the waterways.
