  1. The City of Smyrna has adopted a new schedule for trash and recycling collection. Now, all yard waste will be collected on Mondays, while curbside trash and recycling pick-up will happen Tuesday - Friday. For residents who previously had trash pick-up on Monday, the new pick-up day is Tuesday. For residents who previously had trash pick-up on Tuesday, the new pick-up day is Wednesday. Thursday and Friday collection days remain the same. The new schedule is designed to result in fewer service disruptions due to holidays. (City of Smyrna, GA Government via Facebook)
  2. In nearby Marietta, police are investigating after a multi-car collision sent two people to the hospital. Investigators are reporting a 23-year-old man from Kennesaw was driving a Toyota Corolla when his car struck a Toyota Highlander driven by a 48-year-old woman from Austell. The woman moved her car to the side of the road, but the driver of the Corolla exited his vehicle while still in the traffic lane. He was struck by a different vehicle, resulting in life-threatening injuries, and his car was struck by three other vehicles. The investigation into this collision is ongoing. (Cobb County Courier)
  3. Down the street in Mableton, the Mable House Amphitheater is celebrating its 20th anniversary! To kick off the celebrations, Ruben Studdard and Clay Aiken will be performing Saturday, May 6. Cobb PARKS will be offering 20 pairs of tickets at the discounted price of $20 apiece. For more information about the event, click here. (Patch)
  4. Gas prices in Georgia are trending downward, dropping an average of six cents per gallon. This price drop has happened despite an increase in demand. A spokeswoman for AAA-The Auto Club Group explained that the decrease is likely due to a decline in crude oil prices. In Cobb County, the average price of a gallon of unleaded gas is $3.30, one cent less than the statewide average. (Cobb County Courier)
