Newk's Eatery Reopens In Smyrna, Offers Daily Deals

SMYRNA, GA — Newk's Eatery is back in Smyrna. To celebrate, the restaurant is offering daily deals through Wednesday for dine in, curbside pickup and takeout.

Newk's Eatery first opened its Smyrna location in December 2017, but quietly closed at the end of 2020, according to Tomorrow's News Today Atlanta. The sandwich, soup, pizza and salad restaurant reopened April 29 at its original location: 1405 Spring Road, Smyrna.

“We look forward to bringing our loyal guests in the Smyrna community a new and improved dining experience, and hope everyone will come out to celebrate opening week,” Newk’s franchisee Jeff Crowder said in a news release. “From our craveable Newk’s Q sandwich to our signature Newk’s Favorite Salad and bakery-fresh like strawberry cake, there’s something for everyone at Newk’s.”

Based in Jackson, Mississippi, Newk's Eatery was founded in 2004 by Don Newcomb, Debra Bryson and Chris Newcomb — the same team who founded McAlister's Deli. Named after Chris Newcomb, who was nicknamed "Newk," the eatery's staple menu items are crafted from Newcomb family recipes.

All dishes at Newk's are made in-house without fryers or microwaves, according to the news release. Newk's hand preps more than 50 fresh ingredients every day, and the signature whole cakes are baked in Newk's bakery.

But Newk's does more than just provide fresh meals.

The philanthropic arm of Newk’s Eatery — Newk's Cares — was launched in 2014 by Chris Newcomb’s late wife and co-founder, Lori Newcomb, after her stage 3c ovarian cancer diagnosis. Since then, Newk's Cares has raised more than $1.6 million to support the Ovarian Cancer Research Alliance (OCRA).
