Meet a local realtor who knows the numbers — backwards and forwards.

Imagine you had a realtor who could help you really understand the economics behind the biggest financial decision of your life.

That realtor would probably have an MBA in Finance, and years of experience working for large corporations that apply financial rigor to every decision. Ideally, she’d also have expertise in negotiating big, high-stakes contracts — to help you get to a successful close.

Here are the top three stories today in Smyrna-Vinings:

  1. A man accused of drunk driving, hitting, and killing a young doctor will serve one year in jail after striking a plea deal on Monday. Tyler Wallace was killed in Cobb County after Brent Davis crashed into his car in 2020 as he was leaving a post-medical training class. Defense attorneys argued that Wallace pulled out in front of Davis, who had the right of way. "The fact that he was DUI is truly irrelevant if he isn’t at fault," the defense attorney said. The decision wasn’t easy for the District Attorney’s office and the dangerous intersection was a "major factor." (WSB-TV)
  2. CobbWorks is providing paid work experience for 500 Cobb County Youth! The CobbWorks BOSS Young Professionals Program is hosting an employer "Match Day" on Saturday, May 6, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Hugh L. Grogan Jr. Community Center in nearby Marietta. The program is for ages 15-24 to participate in a paid work week. Participants will also have the opportunity to experience speed interviewing with employers of their choice, speak with industry professionals, receive lunch, and can be hired "on the spot." (Metro Atlanta CEO)
  3. Project U First is hosting a hygiene product donation drive at South Cobb Regional Library today, May 3. Items needed for donation are washcloths, soap, toothbrushes, toothpaste, hand sanitizers, socks, and more! Products will be assembled into kits and dispersed amongst vulnerable members of the South Cobb Community during outings with Project U First. The drive will take place between 10 a.m and 6 p.m. (Cobb County)
