- In Smyrna, police are investigating a shooting death that occurred Sunday in the area of Lochloman Lane and Highland Drive. Officers responded to the incident just before 7:30 p.m. The shooting occurred when a homeowner shot an attempted burglar, which marks the second time in the past month a homeowner has fired at someone attempting a home break-in in Smyrna. (WSB-TV)
- In nearby Marietta, a Recycling Roundtable is set to be held on Apr. 21 at the Sewell Mill Library and Cultural Center. This event will feature local businesses and nonprofit organizations that deal with recycling and trash. Topics that will be covered include the benefits of recycling, what materials can be recycled, and what happens to recyclables after they're picked up. (East Cobb News)
- Gas prices in Georgia have increased over the past week according to a weekly report from AAA. Prices are now two cents higher per gallon for an average price of $3.39. A gallon of regular unleaded gas in Cobb County is about four cents lower than the state average. A spokeswoman for AAA said that oil prices are creeping higher and as a result, consumers can expect to see incremental increases for now. (Cobb County Courier)
