Smyrna police have brought the gunman in Wednesday's shooting into headquarters to find out why he opened fire on a man.

SMYRNA, GA -- Police in Smyrna took the gunman who shot a man in the arm into custody in hopes that interviewing him will yield clues about why he opened fire. The shooting happened Aug. 30 in Smyrna at the Quik Trip in the 4400 block of South Cobb Drive.

The incident began when a man outside his vehicle pumping fuel was approached by another man, leading to an argument. "Had the bullet missed its intended target, an innocent bystander could have been struck, so this was a very dangerous situation at best," Smyrna police spokesman Louis Defense told WSB-TV on air.
