- On Monday evening, a man and a woman were discovered dead in a Smyrna home, in what appears to be a murder-suicide, according to Smyrna police. Officers arrived at the scene in the Highlands View Townhomes on Highlands View Drive around 7:00 p.m. The identities of the victims and their relationships have not been disclosed, and the motive for the incident is still being investigated. Smyrna police are urging anyone with information to contact them as the case remains under investigation. (Fox 5)
- A 32-year-old man named Jayvias Shermondrae Lott has been sentenced to 25 years in prison, with 15 years to serve, followed by 10 years on probation, for holding a Cobb County pharmacy at gunpoint. The incident occurred on Nov. 10, 2019, when Lott entered the Thomas Drugs Pharmacy wearing a motorcycle helmet and demanded prescription drugs at gunpoint. Lott was able to flee with over $1,500 worth of prescription drugs. During an unrelated investigation 12 days later, Lott was arrested, and items related to the robbery were found at his home. - A fundraiser organized through GoFundMe has exceeded its $5,000 target to support Brendan Town, a 32-year-old mixologist from nearby East Point who became paralyzed while honeymooning in Hawaii due to a rare condition called Surfer’s Myelopathy. Town was diagnosed with the rare condition, which is associated with back hyperextension and can affect first-time surfers. Despite the rarity of the condition and the absence of standard treatments, the fundraiser has raised over $7,600 to aid in Town's recovery and medical expenses. (WSB-TV)
