'Breaking Generational Curses': Man Found Guilty Of Molesting 3 Generations In Same Family

A Cobb County man was found guilty of rape and child molestation for sexually assaulting three people in the same family, all as children.

COBB COUNTY, GA — A Cobb County man was found guilty of sexually assaulting an 8-year-old child, their mom and another woman, both when they were children, according to the Cobb County District Attorney's Office.

Bennie Johnson, 66, of Mableton, was handed two life sentences plus five years for the crimes on Monday. He was found guilty of rape, aggravated child molestation and two counts of child molestation on Feb. 25.

"I am thankful for the hard work of our District Attorney's Special Victims Unit, law enforcement partners, SafePath Children's Advocacy Center, Wellstar and Children's Healthcare of Atlanta. Based on the sentencing today, Johnson will never be able to abuse another child again."

The charges stemmed from incidents starting in 2017 in which he committed multiple acts of sexual assault on an 8-year-old child, who is now 12 years old. During the investigation, police found out Johnson also sexually abused the victim's mother when she was a child, the DA's office said.

Another witness in the same family testified during the trial, revealing Johnson also raped her as a child when he was married to her mother, the DA's office said. Afterward, the jury returned the guilty verdict on all counts.
