- Nearby in Buckhead, Scofflaw Brewing Co. has gone public with plans to expand to the upcoming Oxton entertainment district at the Piedmont Center. The newest Scofflaw location at the Oxton district will be the fourth Scofflaw Brewing outfit in Atlanta. Owners Matt Shirah and Travis Herman started out on MacArthur Boulevard and added a "Beer Barn" at the State Farm Arena in 2019. The Oxton, once complete, will be 35,000 square feet of mixed-use space at the ground level of the Piedmont Center, including Scofflaw Brewing and other eateries, as well as retail locations and public seating. - TikTok-inspired Kia thefts are still ongoing in Cobb County and throughout the United States. Metro area social media influencers dubbed the "Kia Boyz" have exposed faults in the onboard security system of many Kia cars that the manufacturers, and dealerships, are still catching up to. Local resident John Cameron was one such victim of Kia Boyz-inspired auto theft; Cobb County Police found Cameron's car shortly after it was stolen, but of the roughly 1 million motorists needing the security system upgrade, only about 320,000 have had it installed. Some believe the upgrade doesn't actually prevent theft; you can input your VIN at this link to determine whether you may be in need of the security system upgrade. (Fox 5 Atlanta)
- Monique Sheffield, Cobb County Commissioner, will be running the show at the annual District 4 litter cleanup in South Cobb this coming Saturday, Jun. 3. Local residents and Sheffield and Mableton city officials, as well as volunteers from Keep Cobb Beautiful, will be picking up litter along local roadways. There will also be a DJ, food, and prizes as part of the event, with festivities being held in the 1133 East-West Connector Walmart parking lot. The event will run from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. ( The Atlanta Journal Constitution)
