Here are the top three stories today in Smyrna-Vinings:
- After a ruptured sewage line dumped over 150,000 gallons of sewage into Sewell Mill Creek, Cobb County leaders are urging folks to avoid the creek until crews are sure it's safe again. The county is currently working on a plan to make long-term emergency repairs to the sewer line. For the time being, temporary pumps will remain in place. (FOX 5 Atlanta)
- Nearby Marietta will be in the satirical spotlight soon. The Marietta Theatre Company will begin its run of "Real Housewives of Marietta" on Aug. 18. The musical based on the popular TV franchise will take a look into the lives of Marietta's upper class. You can grab tickets to the show here. (Broadway World)
- On Tuesday morning, July. 11, Cobb County held the first of three public hearings on the proposed property tax increase. The county intends to increase property taxes over the rollback millage rate by 18.02 percent in the County Maintenance & Operations general fund. Two additional public hearings will take place next Tuesday, Jul 18, at 6:30 p.m. and the following Tuesday, Jul. 25, at 7:00 p.m. (Cobb County Courier)

- The City of Smyrna will host a free dance night in Village Green Park on Saturday, Jul. 15. The event will take place from 7:00-10:00 p.m. (seating will begin at 5:30 p.m.) and feature music by the Platinum Band. (City of Smyrna, GA Government via Facebook)
