SMYRNA, GA — Polls closed Tuesday on Election Day. Smyrna voters cast their ballots in the 2022 primary election. This year, Smyrna voters decided on races for county commissioner, Board of Education, solicitor general and more.

There were also cityhood questions for the proposed cities of East Cobb, Lost Mountain and Vinings, depending on where voters lived.

As of 8:51 p.m., unofficial results show nearly 50 percent of precincts reporting in Cobb County. Republican incumbent JoAnn Birrell has the lead for County Commission District 3. She will face unopposed Democrat Christine Triebsch.
For the Board of Education, unofficial results for District 2 show Stephen George, Jr., with a slight lead for the Republicans, and Becky Sayler slightly leading for the Democrats.

Makia Metzger has the lead for Democrat running for Solicitor General. She will face unopposed Republican Courtney Martin Brubaker.

Voters also made their choice in statewide races including governor, U.S. Senate, secretary of state, attorney general, agriculture commissioner, insurance commissioner, state school superintendent and labor commissioner.
