- On Friday afternoon, a Cobb County School District bus hit a Wheeler High School student, causing severe injuries including a broken neck, a broken hip, a severed ear, and head trauma. The student, a current sophomore, was about to cross Holt Street outside the school when the bus hit her. The family is demanding answers from School District officials, asking if the bus driver is still on the job and if the school has plans to post crossing guards at the intersection. The District has yet to respond outside of its official statement. (WSB-TV)

- Gas prices across the state fell slightly over the past week, dropping four cents to a new average price of $3.57 per gallon for regular unleaded gasoline. The price of a gallon of regular unleaded in Cobb County is $3.64 — roughly seven cents more than the statewide average. AAA has stated the latest drop in prices is due to declining crude oil prices, but that pump prices could ebb and flow throughout Sept. (Cobb County Courier)
