Here are the top three stories today in Smyrna-Vinings:
- Smyrna's Cara Leanne Johnson has been arrested for attempting to smuggle contraband into the DeKalb County Jail. She allegedly parked in a spot reserved for the county's Sheriff's Office Fugitive Unit. She now faces charges of crossing state/county guard lines with weapons, intoxicants, drugs, and conspiracy to commit a felony. She will be facing a year in prison if she is convicted. (CBS 46 News)
- Vinings' Southern Baked Pie Company will be offering a "Buy a Slice, Save a Life" promotion between Sep. 19 and Sep. 24. The promotion will be donating one dollar to CURE for every slice of pie sold during those dates. Customers can also purchase donation cards in one dollar and five dollar formats to support CURE Childhood Cancer. (Reporter Newspaper)
- The Cobb County Commission held a special-called work session on Wednesday with local garbage and recycling haulers. The purpose of the session was to discuss issues and proposed solid waste code amendments. The haulers and the county expressed the desire to work together to provide every county resident with trash service, a robust recycling program, and litter reduction. (Cobb County)
