• Murder Suspect Arrested, Victim ID'ed In Deadly Gwinnett Shooting (patch.com) — Snellville residents are learning more about a deadly early-morning shooting on Saddle Ridge Drive that left 36-year-old local resident Abel Alejandro Unzicker dead. Gwinnett County Police have arrested 30-year-old Snellville resident Derrick Devon Thomas on felony murder and related charges and are asking anyone with information to contact detectives or Crime Stoppers.
   

• 3 Killed In Prison Riot New Falcons President: GA Weekend (patch.com) — Gwinnett County police are investigating a man found fatally shot in unincorporated Snellville early Sunday, described as an isolated incident. The statewide weekend news roundup also notes a deadly Georgia prison riot, a destructive EF-1 tornado, and a tragic house fire elsewhere in Georgia.
   

• Newly-elected Gwinnett Democrat Akbar Ali promises progress in Georgia legislature (wabe.org) — Parts of Snellville will now be represented by 21-year-old Democrat Akbar Ali, who just won a special election to the Georgia House for a southwest Gwinnett district. He’s promising to focus on affordability, schools, healthcare, and housing access while criticizing Republican priorities like debating MAGA license plates.
