Austell Man Faces More Charges in Connection with Attempted Kidnapping

Andrew Woods of Austell, the man charged with attempted kidnapping, was on probation at the time after serving a sentence of voluntary manslaughter.

After being charged with Andrew Woods of Austell is now facing additional charges.

The attempted kidnapping was caught on a surveillance camera at the store in Bremen. The video shows that the kidnapping of Brittany Baxter was thwarted because she kicked and screamed after a man picked her up and tried to cover her mouth when her mother stepped away.

A Haralson County spokeswoman told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution that Woods has also been charged with false imprisonment, cruelty to children, simple assault, marijuana possession, and driving on a suspended license.

Woods was arrested on Feb. 8 and was on probation after serving seven years for voluntary manslaughter. Woods had confessed to killing his uncle, but his confession was thrown out because it was made before his attorney was present. Woods would have otherwise been charged with homicide.
