Cobb BOE Holds First School Closure Public Hearing Tonight

The Board of Education will hear from parents, students and community members affected by the proposed closures of Sky View and Brown elementary schools.

Starting at 5:30 p.m., the Cobb Board of Education will hold its first public school closure hearing to receive feedback from parents and community members about the proposed closures of and Brown elementary schools. The hearing will be held at the district's Central Office at 514 Glover St. in Marietta.

“We would like like to stay there. We’re such a great little school. We’re so diverse. We’re working so hard and so great together…I’m sure they’ll (Mableton Elementary staff and students) be welcoming. I’m sure they’ll be kind. There’s just a lot of what-ifs for us,” Erin Stack, Sky View’s school council president, told South Cobb Patch in November.

Students at Brown, which is proposed to close in the fall of 2013, will attend the new Smyrna elementary school. Smyrna’s Fitzhugh Lee H.A.V.E.N. Academy will be moved to the Brown Elementary location.
