Ex-Falcon Lofton Helps South Cobb Students Celebrate Healthy Challenge Win

South Cobb students had the most effective breakfast marketing campaign of all participating schools and won the Falcons pep rally for their school.

students, with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 and above, had a special treat on Friday afternoon.

The students took part in the school’s first non-athletic pep rally to celebrate placing first in the statewide “Rise Up! Fuel Up!” breakfast contest, after increasing the school’s overall milk consumption by 93 percent.

In order to win, students had to lead a creative and unique marketing campaign to increase awareness of the benefits of eating healthy breakfasts at school each day. South Cobb High saw the highest increase from February to March in breakfast consumption of all participating schools.

Former Falcons linebacker Curtis Lofton, along with a couple of Falcon cheerleaders, came to congratulate the students. Lofton participated in healthy trivia challenges and took photos with students and staff.

He also challenged the students to accept the Fuel Up To Play 60 Pledge to lead healthy lives.

The Fuel Up to Play 60 program is a partnership with the NFL that promotes the importance of healthy nutrition and daily physical activities.

During and after the pep rally, students, faculty and staff danced away calories on the gymnasium floor.
