Get Ready for a (Fitness) Revolution with TLC's Chili, The Bert Show's Kristin Today

Kicking off a Fitness Revolution in Mableton and throughout Greater Atlanta, fitness trainer Lauren Whitmore and her staff are going to offer free classes to help get everyone moving!

More than 300 people are expected to show for the grand opening of Total Fitness Revolution, a facility which incorporates the phenomenon of constant revolutions to work various parts of the body and lessens fatigue. Total Fitness Revolution is located at 1400 Veterans Memorial Highway S.E. in Mableton.

Chili from the R&B/pop group TLC and Kristin from Q100’s “The Bert Show” will also be at the grand opening event today, which runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Chili will be on hand to take photos with guests and sign autographs.

There will be free cycling classes, mini boot camp classes, kettlebell, TRX, strength dance and yoga sessions, along with face painting and special surprises for little ones during the entire day. Guests also can win prizes from sponsors like Reebok, Red Bull and Vita Coco coconut water. After a great workout, guests are pampered with massages as well.

Total Fitness Revolution Program Director Lauren Whitmore has trained over 2,000 people and inspires others with her own personal weight loss journey.

Having always been athletic, Whitmore graduated from Atlanta’s Spelman University in 2004. After she landed a job, for the first time in her life, she saw her weight begin to climb.

She realized she needed to take action and change and her life when she saw a nurse write “obese” as her diagnosis during a doctor’s visit. Whitmore’s weight had skyrocketed to 236 pounds.

“I said, ‘Oh, no, this has got to change,’” Whitmore shared.

She first started as a student in a boot camp class and watched the pounds fall off. Then she began to volunteer as an instructor.

She lost more than 100 pounds and began figure modeling in 2010 and working at CrossFit. She gained about 20 pounds back after modeling, however.

“I’ve just fallen in love with all kinds of fitness,” she said.

After struggling with her own weight gain and being able to keep it off for eight years, she was determined that she would be an example and would pay it forward.

“It stops with me,” she said.

She said her facility, which features fitness classes only, is a community gym with a staff that’s like family.

“The trainers are passionate. We’re in this to help a community become healthier and live longer,” she said.

Whitmore, a Mableton resident, said she wanted to open the facility in Mableton because it’s “Cobb County’s best-kept secret.”

She said Fitness Revolution is a space where neighbors can work out and connect with each other.

For months she has prepared for the facility’s grand opening, and along the way, she has heard residents tell her, “Mableton’s been waiting for something like this.”

Hey, Mableton, South Cobb, the wait is over.
