Funeral Services for Bishop Eddie Long Announced

LITHONIA, GA -- Funeral plans for Bishop Eddie Long have been released by his church.

New Birth Missionary Baptist Church announced this week that "Celebrating the Life of Bishop Eddie L. Long" services will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 25 at 11 a.m.

Bishop Eddie Long, longtime senior pastor of New Birth Missionary Baptist Church, died Sunday at the age of 63 after a fight with an aggressive form of cancer.

Long's wife, known as First Lady Elder Vanessa Long, said in a statement posted on the church's website: “I am confidant through my belief in God that my husband is now resting in a better place. Although, his transition leaves a void for those of us who loved him dearly, we can celebrate and be happy for him, knowing he’s at peace.”

The Lithonia megachurch will hold a "Special Night of Prayer and Praise" On Wednesday, Jan. 18, the church said on Facebook. "We're going to worship the Lord, celebrate the gift that was our pastor, pray for the Long family and for New Birth."
