Checkout via Smartphone? Walmart in Suwanee Uses It
Scan & Go tracks items while you shop, and syncs with self-checkout.
And now, a new twist to those self-checkout lanes.
Walmart, the nation's largest retailer, now has an iPhone app that lets you check out via your smartphone. And the process is being used in Suwanee.
According to media reports and the Walmart website, the app allows shoppers to use their smartphones to scan the barcode of each purchase, place the product in a cart, and then check out by scanning another barcode at the self-checkout lane. Customers won't have to take their groceries out of their carts until placing them in their vehicles.
