Hazardous Weather Outlook for Suwanee and Gwinnett

Rain and thunderstorms are possible Friday.

The rain that washed out the Gwinnett Braves' season opener on Thursday could rear its head on Friday (April 5).

The National Weather Service in Peachtree City has issued a hazardous weather outlook for Suwanee and the Gwinnett area. The alert includes talk of isolated thunderstorms.

The alert, issued late Thursday, reads in part:

SURFACE LOW PRESSURE WILL CONTINUE TO MOVE SOUTH OF GEORGIA INTO FRIDAY MORNING. OVERRUNNING MOISTURE INTERACTING WITH A LOW LEVEL WEDGE OF COLD AIR FROM THE NORTHEAST WILL ALLOW MAINLY FOR PERIODS OF LIGHT RAIN OR DRIZZLE INTO MID-MORNING. HOWEVER...THERE IS A CHANCE FOR ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS MAINLY ALONG AND SOUTH OF A LINE FROM COLUMBUS TO MACON TO SUMMERTOWN. THE MAIN THREATS WITH ANY STORM DEVELOPMENT WILL BE OCCASIONAL LIGHTNING AND BRIEF HEAVY RAIN. ADDITIONAL RAINFALL AMOUNTS OF ONE TO TWO TENTHS OF AN INCH IS POSSIBLE.

Friday's forecast says that showers are "likely, mainly before 11 a.m. Cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly sunny, with a high near 63." 

The G-Braves rescheduled their opener vs. Charlotte for Friday, 7:05 p.m., at Coolray Field. A double-header is scheduled for Saturday.
