  1. If your child is interested in babysitting, Cherokee Recreation & Parks offers a great course for children aged 11 to 15 to get them ready to take on that responsibility. The Red Cross Babysitting + Pediatric CPR classes at the Aquatic Center help equip future babysitters with the skills and knowledge needed, along with the presence of mind to safely care for others. Participants will learn how to build a babysitting business, provide basic child care and first aid, and upon completion of the course, they'll receive a Pediatric CPR and First Aid Certification. You can learn more and sign up here for the Aug. 12 class. (Cherokee Recreation & Parks)
  2. Cherokee Recreation & Parks is asking for our input again on the future Hickory Flat Area Park. A public input meeting has been scheduled for the evening of Aug. 10 at the Hickory Flat Gym, where the department will share the proposed designs for the 40-acre park, created by the contracted design and planning company Lose Design. The option to comment virtually will be opening up online on Aug. 11, and those providing input online will be able to see a project summary and conceptual draft. The design company will be using the input collected through a June survey and a series of public input meetings to create the master plan. You can read more about the park here. (Cherokee County Communications Division)
  3. On surveys and recreation, Woodstock Parks and Recreation is asking for our thoughts on the future of their offerings. You can find the survey here, there are questions about ways to improve the recreational programming here in Woodstock, and it even branches off into questions about children's programming if you note that you have children. There are so many options, from board games to rock climbing to self defense. There are instructional offerings as well, like cooking, cake decorating and woodworking.
