- It's open house and walk-through time in Cherokee County! Be sure to read through the July CCSD Connections newsletter at the link for important information on lunch payments, after school activities, forms, registration via the Back-to-School Gateway and the walk-through times for each school and grade. This year it's an early start in the district, some events are scheduled for 8 a.m. So up and at 'em, Woodstock, let's go register the kids. (CCSD Newsletter)
- Cherokee County Senior Services is holding a free Caregiver Support Meeting this evening at the Senior Center in Canton. The meeting will feature Cindy Nelson from Nelson Elder Care Law with information on the importance of having a will, appointing a power of attorney, how to tell the difference between a guardianship and a power of attorney and more. There is time for discussion if you have questions about your will or power of attorney, the meeting is open to seniors and those that care for seniors. The presentation starts at 5:30 p.m. at the Senior Center, 1001 Univeter Road. Please RSVP by calling 770-345-5320 or by emailing snbrown@cherokeega.com. - July is almost over, and there are only a handful of days left on the Cherokee Recreation & Parks July calendar. Today's item is to bring your dog to the leash-free zone at Pawtriots Park, located within Patriots Park at 1485 Kellogg Creek Road in Acworth. The item for tomorrow is to visit the skate park at Cherokee Veterans Park in Canton and Saturday's activity is to join the Duck Race at the Cherokee County Aquatic Center. - The last Cherokee Health Department Back-To-School Health Clinic is on Aug. 8, from 1 to 6 p.m. at both the Woodstock and Canton health department locations. The clinics provide the school-required hearing, dental, vision and BMI/nutrition screenings, and most insurance is accepted. For those uninsured, the total cost for the screenings is $60. If your children need immunizations as well, those are available for $21.90 each. You can find more information and clinic addresses at the link. (North Georgia Health District)

- Downtown WDSTK Walking Tour Series - The Names of Woodstock Past: Hear about the historical significance of the names used for roads, parks and landmarks around the downtown area. Tours leave from the Woodstock Visitors Center, 8588 Main St., you can get your tickets at the link. (6 - 7:30 p.m.)
- Artist Talk: Chris May, Maxine Hess and Chase King will be discussing the creation of and inspiration behind their work on display in the "All the Fixin's" exhibit. The free event will be held at the Reeves House, 734 Reeves St. (6:30 p.m.)
- "How To Taste Whiskey" Tasting Event: Learn the correct way to taste bourbon, single-malt whiskey and rye with spirits expert Jessica Hamilin from United Distribution at Rootstock, 8558 Main St. (7 - 9:30 p.m.)
- Super Smash Bros. Tournament: A double-elimination tournament with prizes for the top three winners. The entry fee includes access to all arcade, pinball and board games at The Blue Ghost Arcade, 164 Towne Lake Parkway. Registration starts at 7 p.m. (8 - 10:30 p.m.)

- Hot Wheels Skate Center is holding a party for the kids tomorrow from 6 to 10 p.m. The kids will love the skating challenges and food choices at the venue, and they'll usher in the new school year with a balloon drop and backpack giveaway. - If your children are participating in the Mayor’s Summer Fun Challenge, the last day to complete challenges and turn in your Challenge Card is this Saturday. Cards can be turned in at the Woodstock Visitors Center on Main Street during business hours, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Saturday. Prizes will be awarded for completed challenges — a sticker for 10 challenges, a water bottle for 25 and a T-shirt for 40. (Woodstock News Post)
- The Reformation Rodeo is coming up this Saturday, and there'll be a mechanical bull in the alley from 4-7 p.m. and Line dancing by Geneva Bjerklie from 5-6 p.m. The brewery will also be releasing their Shotgun Light Lager, and musical performances during the day include The Shane Byous Band at 2 p.m. and Chad Patterson at 7 p.m. The brewery is at 105 Elm St. (Reformation Brewery)
- Make sure you swing by the Woodstock Library by Friday to take in the "Witness to the Holocaust: WWII Veteran William Alexander Scott III" exhibit. Closing on Friday, the exhibit highlights the veteran and civil rights activist who served in a segregated battalion as a U.S. Army photographer.
