Cherokee Fire Station Closed For Renovations
Fire Station No. 24 on River Park Boulevard in Woodstock will be closed for about two months.

WOODSTOCK, GA — A Cherokee County fire station will be closed for the next two months so it can undergo renovations. Fire Station No. 24 at 1000 River Park Boulevard in Woodstock closed Jan. 4 and is expected to reopen March 4, Cherokee County Fire and Emergency Services said.
Cherokee County Field Operations Chief Shane West said contractors are replacing the roof and HVAC system, upgrading ceiling tiles and lights, increasing the size of the mechanical room and isolating the firefighter gear room to accommodate ventilation that will be separate from the interior area of the station.
CCFES said the renovations are being done due to recent evidence that shows it's not just flames or smoke inhalation that’s causing the death of firefighters, but the toxic soot left behind on fire gear and firefighters can also cause significant damage.

Residents who live in the area of the station will still be covered by a squad and fire apparatus. While contractors expect the work to take about two months to complete, that time could be lengthened or shortened due to the weather.
