'He Sacrifices His Life To Always Help Someone': Woodstock Hero

WOODSTOCK, GA — When times are tough, heroes emerge. We all know someone who's making a difference right now as we live through unprecedented and changing times.

Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize these heroes making a difference in their communities. Together with Ring, we’re working to let all your neighbors know about these outstanding people and their stories.

This submission comes from Yvonne Letzin and Mary Ogg who both nominated Shane Bonebrake.

Yvonne Letzin: friend

Mary Ogg: as a Woodstock Police Auxiliary Officer, I volunteer with many WPD Officers. I have known Officer Bonebrake for 6-7 years.

Reason for recognition:

Yvonne Letzin: He gives 100 percent of his time helping others. He sacrifices his life to always help someone in need. He truly believes in helping people.

Mary Ogg: Shane spearheaded a relief convoy for badly needed food and supplies for his hometown of Marion, Iowa after the community was recently devastated by the derecho. His efforts filled two trucks and gathered two teams of people to help with clean up.

One thing to know:

Yvonne Letzin: Shane has spent his whole life in the public service industry.

Mary Ogg: This Woodstock Police Officer has a big heart and is an inspiration, especially to young people.
