The Realtor will see you now
Imagine you had a realtor who was as attentive and caring to clients as, say, a great physician’s assistant was to patients in the operating room. The analogy might seem like a stretch, until you meet Michale Pena.
For much of her career, Michale has worked as a Surgical First Assistant to one of our area’s top orthopedic surgeons. It’s a demanding, high-stress job that requires the highest level of attentiveness, precision and service. Along the way, Michale, who has spent her whole life in the Woodstock area, started helping her medical colleagues solve another problem: figuring out where to live in our area’s tight housing market.

Here are the top stories in Woodstock-Towne Lake today:
- Another day, another heat advisory. As of this writing, our county, and much of North Georgia, is under a heat advisory until tonight at 8 p.m. With the heat index, we're looking at close to 105 degrees today, so it's suggested that we wear lightweight and loose clothing, drink plenty of fluids, stay inside in the air conditioning, stay out of the sun and check on relatives and neighbors. The heat advisory may change throughout the day, you can keep an eye on warnings at the link by entering your zip code in the search field. There is also an option to sign up for email, text or phone call alerts. (National Weather Service - Alerts)
- With the extreme temperatures today, it makes sense that we've also got a Code Orange Air Quality Alert in place. Issued by the Georgia Department of Natural Resources, the alert is set when outdoor air quality is likely to be unhealthy for certain groups. Prolonged outdoor activity should be limited in the afternoon and early evening for children, people sensitive to ozone and people with heart or lung disease. You can find more information on air quality and area-specific alerts on the AirNow website here, just enter your zip code. (Woodstock Fire Department via Facebook)
- Five citizens that assisted in a police chase on Aug. 3 will be recognized for their hand in capturing the fleeing subject. After attempting a traffic stop on I-575, an officer followed a suspect into the Park at Towne Lake apartments, where two citizens pointed the officer in the direction of the fleeing subject. A third citizen continued the pursuit with the officer in the bed of his truck, and the fourth helper, an off-duty Cobb officer, picked up the officer and brought him back to his vehicle. The subject ran to a home and the homeowner tried to stop the subject on his front porch, where he was finally apprehended. All five people will be recognized on Aug. 28 at the Mayor & City Council meeting. (Woodstock-Towne Lake Patch and Woodstock PD via Facebook)
- The second fall session of classes at Woodstock Arts begins in October, and registration is now open. The offerings include several classes in ceramics, crafts, drawing and painting and there are even classes for the actors in town. You can find the full catalog here. If you're still thinking about ways to keep the kids engaged during the school break in September, Woodstock Arts has a Fall Break Camp for ages 8 to 12, with a dual focus on visual arts and theater.
