- The Woodstock Library is holding a Medicare Info Session tonight for those with questions about how Medicare works. The evening is open to all seniors, those that are at or near 65 years old, caregivers of seniors and anyone else with Medicare. There will be a chance to ask questions, and you don't need to register for the presentation. The event will take place from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the library, the address is 7735 Main St. (Sequoyah Regional Library System Calendar)
- The Brown Bag Concert Series starts today, and it's one of the best ways I can think of to enjoy lunch downtown. The free series brings live music to the Gazebo in the Park at City Center each Thursday in September, and today, it'll be Chip Jones on stage. The concerts start at noon and last for one hour. Bring something to sit on and grab lunch from one of the delicious restaurants downtown; next week's performer is Wyatt Espalin. (Woodstock Parks and Recreation)
- The Cherokee Sheriff's Office (CSO) is asking the public's assistance in locating two people. On Tuesday, a male on a motorcycle ran from law enforcement after crossing over a double-yellow line to pass three vehicles near Hickory Flat Highway and Univeter Road. The second person is a wanted male with several warrants out of Cherokee County, David Charles Rampley is around 6 feet 1 inch tall and 244 pounds. You can see the pictures of the wanted individuals at the links, if you have any information, please contact the Sheriff's Office. (CSO via Facebook)
- For the golfers, the 8th Annual Charity Golf Tournament is set for Oct. 12 at the BridgeMill Athletic Club. The "Luau on the Links" tournament will feature themed holes and prizes and the proceeds will go to the Woodstock Public Safety Foundation (WPSF) for community outreach, emergency aid and Shop with a Hero programs, as well as equipment, training and support. The event is halfway full, so head over to the event website soon if you'd like to sponsor or participate. (WPSF Golf Tournament)
