Rep. Caldwell Announces Bid To Run For Senate Seat

State Rep. Michael Caldwell of Woodstock will run for the Georgia Senate District 21 seat.

WOODSTOCK, GA — Once he wraps up his fourth, two-year term in the Georgia House of Representatives in 2020, State Rep. Michael Caldwell will set his sights on higher office. Caldwell, the Republican representing House District 20, said he will run for the Georgia Senate District 21 seat.

The seat is currently held by Brandon Beach, a Republican of Alpharetta. Beach has announced his plans to seek the 6th Congressional District seat held by Democrat Lucy McBath.

"Today, I ask for your support to become our district’s next State Senator in 2020," Caldwell said Friday. "In our time at the state house, we have set a new standard in transparency and accountability in campaigning and fought successfully for economic freedom and conservative values at the capitol."

Caldwell added that he is confident that, with the help of voters, "we will take Cherokee and North Fulton’s conservative values down to the state Senate and keep Georgia’s best days ahead of us." The Senate District 21 seat includes the eastern half of Cherokee County, Alpharetta and Milton.
