State Rep. Caldwell Named To Deputy Whip Team

The team is responsible for tracking legislation in the Georgia General Assembly and making sure their colleagues understand bills.

WOODSTOCK, GA — State Rep. Michael Caldwell of Woodstock has been appointed to serve as a member of the House Majority Caucus Deputy Whip team.

Caldwell, a Republican, was appointed to serve on the Whip team by House Majority Whip Trey Kelley, and his appointment is for a two-year term that will run concurrent with his service as a member of the Georgia House of Representatives.

“The Majority Whip team relies on the trust of our colleagues to produce an honest and accurate report of our Caucus' opinions to House leadership,” Caldwell said. “I'm genuinely humbled that Whip Kelley believes I can add value to this team, and I look forward to serving the House of Representatives in this new role.”

Members of the Deputy Whip team keep track of legislation as it moves through both chambers of the General Assembly and help their colleagues understand bills and resolutions.

The Deputy Whip team will include Republican state representatives Mark Newton of Augusta, chief deputy whip; and Josh Bonner of Fayetteville; Kasey Carpenter of Dalton; David Clark of Buford; Matt Dubnik of Gainesville; Jeff Jones of Brunswick; John LaHood of Valdosta; Karen Mathiak of Griffin; Marc Morris of Cumming; Jason Ridley of Chatsworth; and Deborah Silcox of Sandy Springs.
