Today's newsletter is sponsored by Michale Pena, Realtor at RB Realty
The Realtor will see you now
Imagine you had a realtor who was as attentive and caring to clients as, say, a great physician’s assistant was to patients in the operating room. The analogy might seem like a stretch, until you meet Michale Pena.
For much of her career, Michale has worked as a Surgical First Assistant to one of our area’s top orthopedic surgeons. It’s a demanding, high-stress job that requires the highest level of attentiveness, precision and service. Along the way, Michale, who has spent her whole life in the Woodstock area, started helping her medical colleagues solve another problem: figuring out where to live in our area’s tight housing market.

These days, Michale is a rising star at RB Realty, offering the same level of attention to detail, responsiveness and service she learned in the operating room to buyers and sellers in our area. Don’t take our word for it. Here’s what a recent client says:
“Michale was fantastic from start to finish. She took all the stress off of us. She is a true professional, and we highly recommend her to anyone who is interested in buying or selling a home.”

Now, today's weather: A heavy thunderstorm in the evening. High: 88 Low: 71.
Here are the top stories in Woodstock-Towne Lake today:
- Yesterday's storms brought trees down all over the county and left over 25,000 people without power into the early evening. East Cherokee Drive, Bells Ferry Road and Cumming Highway were just a few of the many roads blocked by downed trees, and there were traffic light outages scattered around the area as well. The county, utility companies and citizens braved the storms to begin clearing the roads and restoring power, though as of late last night, there were still a few non-functional traffic lights and several roads closed. As you travel today, take it a bit slower and keep an eye out for debris in the roadway. (Cherokee Sheriff's Office via Facebook)
- The Cherokee Sheriff's Office is holding a hiring event today in search of new deputy sheriffs. If you think you have what it takes to join the team, bring your driver's license and water bottle and be ready to run the agility course outside. You'll fill out the application and sit for an interview during the event, and there will be recruiters on hand if you have any questions. The hiring event will run from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 516 Chattin Drive in Canton. Go get 'em, you're going to do great! (Cherokee Sheriff's Office via Facebook)
- The Cherokee County Animal Shelter is asking for item donations, and every little bit helps the shelter tremendously. Mainly, the shelter is in need of paper towels, hard chew toys in sizes large and extra-large and food for the PAWS Pet Food Pantry, but they also have several wish lists that you can take a look at as well. You can find the shelter's Amazon wish list for the PAWS Pet Food Pantry here, the shelter pet enrichment wish list here and the general needs list here. (Cherokee County Animal Shelter via Facebook)
- Each year at the end of summer, the Cherokee County Aquatic Center opens up their pool to the pooches. The "Paws in the Pool" events will take place on Sept. 10 and Oct. 15 this year, and there are separate swim times set aside for small and large dogs. To participate, you'll need to have proof of your pup's distemper, parvo and rabies vaccinations, all dogs must be spayed or neutered, you can't go in with the dogs and only two dogs per handler are allowed. You can register here. (Cherokee Recreation & Parks via Facebook)
