  1. Unwind Wednesday has been canceled due to the storm expected today. The evenings will pick back up on Sept. 27, the scheduled theme for that evening is "Farewell Summer: Nature Hike and Archery." The events are held at Cherokee Veterans Park in Canton and include themed activities, food and merchandise vendors and more. The last Unwind Wednesday will be held on Oct. 25 and the theme listed is "Trunk or Treat." (Cherokee County Recreation & Parks Official and Facebook)
  2. Regarding the storm, Hurricane Idalia is expected to travel through parts of central and east Georgia today. Though not in the direct path of the hurricane, Cherokee County is expected to experience rain and wind throughout the day. As of now, our area is not under any active watches or warnings, but our area may get some flooding. Be sure to check with venues if you've got plans today, some events have already been canceled around the county.   3. Students from around the Cherokee County School District are bringing home gold medals from the statewide summer Special Olympics. The Cherokee County soccer team placed on top, along with many students from our district that won gold medals in individual swimming and track and field events. All of the winners will be recognized during the school board meeting in September, along with Caleb Guy, who is a multi-medal winning kayaker from the Special Olympics World Games in Berlin in the summer.   4. The "Discover WDSTK Scavenger Hunt" starts tomorrow! The hunt will run until Sept. 30, and it's a free, fun and creative way to experience all our city has to offer.   • Farm Bureau Storytime - Mushrooms: Best suited for ages 3 to 11 with an accompanying adult, the event will feature a special book and activity at Rose Creek Library, at 4476 Towne Lake Parkway. (10:30 - 11:30 a.m.)
  • Teen Writing Group: For teen creatives, meet up with other teen writers, help each other with your work and get some writing done in a nice, peaceful environment. The group will meet at the Woodstock Library, 7735 Main St. (4:30 - 6 p.m.)
  • Trivia Night: Join your friends and neighbors at Reformation Brewery tonight for trivia with Lights Up! Entertainment. There are prizes for the top-three winners, the brewery address is 105 Elm St. (7 - 9 p.m.)
  • Music Bingo: Grab a bite from the Don Fausto's food truck and play some music bingo tonight at Truck & Tap, 8640 Main St. (7:30 p.m.)
  • Dating Simulator - Singles Night: For all the unattached aged 21 and up, head to The Blue Ghost Arcade tonight to find "the one" or even your new best friend. Admission includes interactive games and unlimited video games all night. The arcade has a full bar, the address is 164 Towne Lake Parkway. (8 p.m.)
  • Blue Moon Yoga: An evening of yoga under the blue moon at the Amphitheater downtown, you can register at the link. (8:30 - 9:30 p.m.)

  • Today is the last day to register for the Cherokee Recreation & Parks "Explore Archery" program. The class is suited for beginners between 8 and 12 years old and will utilize recurve and compound bows. You can register here until 5 p.m. today. (Cherokee Recreation & Parks)
  • Adoptions are free through Sept. 1 at the Cherokee County Animal Shelter! Your new family member will come home with their spay or neuter, initial vaccinations, deworming, flea preventative and microchip done, and you'll even get a sample bag of food.   • Woodstock Arts has a lot going on, and September is starting off with a flurry of incredible programming. On Sept. 8, there's a Casino Night fundraising event for Woodstock Arts with food, drink and casino games, and on Sept. 16, you can learn the salsa and bachata at Latin Dance Night with Neasy Griffin.
