- It's a yoga type of day, why not check out one of the sessions happening today in our gorgeous city? At Reformation Brewery, found at 105 Elm St., "Yoga on Tap" will run from 10 to 11:30 a.m. The class is great for beginners and includes a pint or coffee afterwards, you'll pay for the class at the door. The Woodstock Library has a free class today from 11 a.m. to noon. "Yoga at the Library" is for adults of all skill levels, the library address is 7735 Main St. For both events, be sure to bring your mat and water. (Reformation Brewery and the Sequoyah Regional Library System)
- Back-To-School Health Clinics are being held by the Cherokee County Health Department, beginning next week. The clinics on July 18, 25 and Aug. 8 will be held from 1 to 6 p.m. at the Woodstock and Canton health department locations and will provide the required hearing, dental, vision and BMI/nutrition screenings. Most insurance is accepted, but for uninsured and underinsured patients, the total cost for the screenings is $60. If your children need immunizations as well, those are available for $21.90 each. You can find more information and clinic addresses at the link. (North Georgia Health District)
- The annual Cherokee Senior Services Hot Dog Fundraiser is coming up on Aug. 3. Hosted by Cherokee County Senior Services and Stand Up for Seniors, the event will be going on from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Senior Center, located at 1001 Univeter Road in Canton. To save your hot dog, please RSVP to dlgale@cherokeega.com or call 678-230-4067. You can read more about Stand Up for Seniors, their mission and ways we can help local seniors in need here. (Cherokee County via Facebook)
- One of Woodstock's historic buildings will be emptying out for the first time in as long as I can remember. Originally built in 1919, the white brick building at 9010 Main St. is currently home to Queen Custom Couture and will go up for sale sometime around September, according to the current owner. A small apartment sits at the back of the building along with plenty of parking, the lot goes up to the sidewalk and the corner road signage is "grandfathered in," all making this property a dream to any prospective Downtown Woodstock business owner. Queen Custom Couture will be moving to Roswell, you can follow along with their journey here. (Subscription: Cherokee Tribune & Ledger-News)
