Morning, neighbors! It's me again, John Braese, your host of the Boise Daily.

Welcome to the weekend edition of the Boise Daily. A Boise rapist is heading to prison for life after a recent sentencing, and Boise's mayor has spoken out against extremism in local politics. A Nampa man has been sentenced to federal prison for his actions in the Capitol's riot, and the city is legally protecting our local parks with some exceptions.   1. A Boise man with an extensive criminal history was sentenced to life in prison for the rape of a Boise woman inside her Boise home. CBS2 news staff report Joel Guerrero tied up the victim and raped her repeatedly in April 2020. (Idaho News)
  2. After witnessing school board members, county commissioners and others step aside due to threats and harassment, Boise Mayor Lauren McLean released a statement discussing incidents involving her own family. (Boise Patch)
  3. A Nampa man is heading to federal prison for over four years for his involvement in the Jan. 6, 2021, riot at the U.S. Capitol. KTVB-TV's Katie Terhune writes 68-year-old Duke Wilson received one of the longest sentences yet handed down. (KTVB)
  4. The City of Boise is moving ahead with legal protection against development in Boise parks. BoiseDev senior reporter Margaret Carmel clarifies the new protection will not include the land designated for the 160-acre Murgoitio park site as the city's deed only will extend to the city’s park sites, its open space reserves, the 200 miles of Ridge to Rivers trails and the 25 miles of Greenbelt.   • Future Hispanic Leaders of America (FHLA) is bringing together Hispanic professionals from health care and technology fields to speak about their experiences their careers. The expo will discuss different career paths, meet Hispanic professionals, speak with college and university representatives, and apply for scholarships. (8 a.m.)
  • The Spring Fling is coming to Nampa, billed as the largest spring bazaar. (9 a.m.)
  • Discover Boise State is a great event for prospective students to find out about College of Education programs and what the college has to offer. (11:50 a.m.)
  • Syncopated Ladies, a female tap dance band from Los Angeles, California, will perform Saturday evening. The group was created by tap dancer and choreographer Chloe Arnold, a protege of Debbie Allen. (7:30 p.m.)
