Here are the top stories in Boise today:
- Whether you decide to stay in Boise or make a trip outside the city, celebrations abound for our nation's birthday on July 4. LITE-FM's Michelle Heart provides a schedule of events for Boise, Garden City, Marsing, McCall, Cascade, Caldwell, Garden Valley, Melba, Meridian, Middleton, and Star. (liteonline)
- If your plans for the weekend include tubing the Boise River, you need to supply your own air. The air stations at Boise's Barber Park are now just a memory as reported by 104.3's Marco. Ada County first turned off the air in 2020 and during recent renovations, the stations were removed for good. If you are looking to make a friend while tubing the river, bring a compressor and offer some air. (104wowcountry)
- More police officers will be in the schools if the Meridian City Council votes yes. CBS2 's Angela Kerndl reports Meridian Police and the mayor are calling on the council to approve funding for six additional school resource officers in the West Ada's elementary schools. The price tag stands at $931,000 for the additional officers. (idahonews)
- We all followed the agonizing search for Everette Jackson after his tube flipped in the Payette River outside of Emmett. Jackson's family joined in the search after flying into the state from Louisiana before he was finally found by a local fisherman. KTVB-TV's Alexandra Duggan follows up on the story with reports obtained from the Gem County Sheriff's Office including the condition of the body when found. The article also includes statements from Jackson's girlfriend what took place on the day of the incident. (ktvb)
- BoiseDev editor Don Day correctly states, "No news outlet likes to be in the news." After previously publishing a story on safety in the construction zone on Highway 55, Day and his staff finds themselves at odds with the Idaho Transportation Department. After Governor Brad Little stepped in and requested more information from the state agency, words appeared like "misreading", "inaccurate conclusions" and "misrepresented". Stay tuned. (boisedev)
