Here are the top stories in Boise today:
- Early voting is open in Ada County, but Boise voters will find nothing on the ballot. KTVB-TV staff report a bond in Kuna, open only to persons living within the district involved, is the lone item on the ballot this time around. Election Day is March 14 and for those not registered, voters can do so with proper identification. (KTVB.com)
- A date has been set gather testimony regarding dissolving the Meridian Library District. CBS2 news staff report March 20 has been set as the public hearing in the 1st floor Public Hearing Room of the Ada County Courthouse in Boise, 200 W. Front St. with the meeting slated to start at 6 p.m. If the petition to dissolve the district is approved, the loss will result in almost 217,000 items not checked out, 5,880 people not attending events and 201 programs not held in just in the past two months not occurring. The article also involves methods to submit testimony by email or mail. (Idaho News)
- Boise residents may see haze in the sky or find a favorite hiking trail closed in March. The IdahoCapitalSun's Christian Lords reports the Payette National Forest has areas slated to prescribed burns this month. The burns are taking place to reduce fuels in forests. (idahocapitalsun)
- Boise may not be New York, but we have more than our fair share of bagel shops springing up. The BoiseWeekly's Amos Rothstein visits both Good Times and Goldsteins to provide a critique on each. Both of these bagel shops take the New York staple well beyond cream cheese or plain with butter. (boiseweekly)
- Boise Patch has kept you updated on In-N-Out Burger's entry into Idaho. In the latest update, BoiseDev reporter Autum Robertson reports the burger chain has applied to demolish the vacant Pier 1 Imports at Boise Towne Square Mall and once construction starts, it will take approximately six months until completion. The second location at The Village in Meridian is on hold as the city has requested more information and the city has requested final values and contractor information to evaluate fees. Once all the paperwork is done, six months out is also the timeline on this location. (boisedev)
