Here are the top three stories in Boise today:
- Bank of America is looking to slowly make its return back to the Boise area, as it appears it will be replacing Shari's Cafe and Pie restaurant on Franklin Road. Bank of America has been mostly gone from the state for almost 10 years after Washington Federal purchased 51 BoA branches across Idaho. However, now starting with Shari's Cafe, the bank plans to slowly make its way back aiming at opening four branches in the Boise area by 2026. Although Shari's is for lease, nothing is set in stone yet — the preliminary permit application to remove the building has not moved forward at this point. (Idaho Press)
- The Idaho Transportation Department has announced that State Highway 21 will be repaved starting on Jul. 17 through September. SH-21 will be closed Monday through Thursday from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., reopening on nights and weekends; motorists can expect delays during this time and should seek alternate routes if they are traveling to Stanley. For more information about the road project, you can click here. (Idaho News)
- Despite the blistering temperatures in Boise, the community is still coming out in full force for the flea markets that occur on the second Sunday of every month — so much so that additional dates have been added. The Boise Flea Market serves as an opportunity to get together to not only support small business owners in the community, but to enjoy a time filled with food, refreshments, and live music. When the flea market first started 10 years ago, there were about 15 vendors; fast forward to today, and there are over 120 and a crowd to support them. The next market will be on Jul. 30 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (Idaho News 6)
