Hello, everybody. I'm back in your inbox this warm summer morning with all the most important things happening in Boise these days.

Welcome to the Thursday edition of the Boise Daily. We start you with a story of a wandering moose and continue with a calendar of events for Boise's balloon rally. The Basque culture in Boise has a rich history, one that is soon to be celebrated. Boise will not actively be searching out our abortion providers and take a look at past lucky places for lottery ticket buyers.

Here are the top stories today in Boise:

  1. Everyone likes to meet their new neighbors, but Boise's Hidden Springs may wish to let this one go without a personal introduction. KTVB-TV staff have a video of a moose making a stroll through the neighborhood. The moose finally headed back up to the foothills, hopefully to not make a return trip. (KTVB.com)
  2. Boise Daily readers frequently provide feedback requesting advance notice of events for planning purposes. We listen and for all of you planning on attending the 2022 Spirit of Boise Balloon Classic, CBS2 news staff have the entire calendar of events starting Aug. 31. Take note of Sept. 2 as a launch will take place to honor Larry Gebert. (Idaho News)
  3. Staying on the idea of planning ahead, the San Inazio festival starts July 29 in downtown Boise. If you are planning on attending this Basque festival and partaking of some tapas, chorizos, or paella, Sharon Fisher pens a story for fromboise outlining the extensive Basque history in Boise. One place to start is the Basque Museum and Cultural Center and the Cyrus Jacobs/Uberuaga House. Grab a bite to eat at Bar Gernika Basque Pub and Eatery and prepare for a community street dance with Amuma Says No. (fromboise)
  4. Local law enforcement and city departments have been told not to prioritize city resources in the prosecution of abortion providers. BoiseDev editor Don Day reports the resolution, passed on a slim 3-2 vote, states the City of Boise would not take several actions unless required by state or federal law. For both voting no and yes on the resolution, council members provided their reasonings in the article. (boisedev)
  5. You may pick up a lottery ticket every once in a while. Chances are the place where you hand over a dollar or two is close to your home or workplace and a location you frequent once or twice a week. LITE-FM's Michelle Heart provides you 15 reasons to expand outside your comfort zone and purchase your ticket to millions at these locations. (LiteOnline.com)
