Here are the top stories today in Boise:
- To start today's Boise Daily, we amble up Highway 55 about an hour away from Boise. KTVB-TV's Morgan Romero reports a former chief of the Horseshoe Bend Volunteer Fire District and still current member of the Horseshoe Bend City Council faces a felony charge of grand theft. Curtis Corvinus allegedly stole $3,668.53 of the fire district's money during his tenure as chief. (KTVB)
- Four Idaho teachers, none from Boise, were recently disciplined for actions ranging from sexual abuse, texting unprofessional material and striking a student with a PVC pipe. IdahoEdNews reporter Sadie Dittenbar provides the story behind each of the four teachers and the discipline handed out by the Idaho Professional Standards Commission. The bad news is, due to time constraints, an additional four more cases, two involving sexual misconduct allegations, were not heard, but scheduled for the December meeting. (idahoednews)
- Boise State Bronco fans should not need that heavy coat or even a rain slicker for the home opener on Saturday. KIVI-TV's Scott Dorval provides the forecast for the Bronco game as well as the rest of the weekend. (Idaho News 6 Boise Twin Falls)
- The Boise School District recently handed out its highest awards, the Red Apple Award for teachers and the Golden Apple Award for classified employees. Boise Patch joins the district in congratulating Natalie Roberts, fourth grade teacher, Shadow Hills Elementary and Peggy Danner, librarian, Trail Wind Elementary for being selected to receive the Red & Golden Apple Awards, respectively. (Boise Patch)
- If you made a financial contribution to Ammon Bundy's campaign for governor, your cash may not have used for yard signs or campaign literature, but for payment to a law firm representing him in a criminal case. The Idaho Capital Sun's Ruth Brown reports $4,000 in campaign donations was paid to Idaho Injury Law Group on Franklin Road in Boise. The legal firm, no longer representing Bundy in his criminal trespass case, is not representing the governor's candidate in a civil suit filed by St. Luke’s Health System against Bundy.
