Here are the top stories today in Boise:

  1. If you are one of many who enjoy letting the dogs out for a run, take note. KIVI-TV staff write the seasonal off-leash program at Simplot Sports Complex, Ann Morrison Park and the Optimist Youth Sports Complex is coming an end. As youth sports starts up around Boise, the pooches need to be again leashed up. (Idaho News 6 Boise Twin Falls)
  2. Some members of the Boise Fire Department took a trip to the mountains over the weekend, but camping was not included. CBS2 news staff report the crew of the Boise Fire HazMat team spent the weekend burning off 12,008 gallons of propane from an overturned propane trailer on Highway 95. (Idaho News)
  3. If you had planned to submit your name as a councilperson for the Boise City Council but forgot, don't fret. The city has extended the deadline for submitting applications for two vacant council seats until Feb. 21 at 5 p.m. (Boise Patch)
  4. As the City of Boise prepares to begin the pitch to bring Amtrak back to the area, a part of that plan is conveying residents' experiences riding the train in the past. BoiseStatePublicRadio's George Prentice speaks with Bre Brusch, the transportation advisor to Mayor Lauren McLean. Brush is asking Boise residents to reach out and contact her with their experiences on a train or their hope for bringing rail service back to Boise. (Boise State Public Radio)
  5. The city and the Ada County Planning and Zoning are not seeing eye to eye on a proposed development. BoiseDev publishes a story originally written by Idaho Press reporter Carolyn Komatsoulis reporting despite objections by the city, Ada County Planning and Zoning is recommending approval of the Spring Rock Planned Community. The 762-acre planned community includes residential homes, townhomes, apartments, commercial areas, parks, and community features. (boisedev.com)
