Here are the top stories today in Boise:
- If you are currently looking for work, you are in a minority. The Idaho Capital Sun's Audrey Dutton writes Idaho's unemployment rate of 2.6% is a record low. Jobs in natural resources and wholesale trade saw huge gains while jobs in the arts, entertainment and recreation sector saw a dip. For April, there were 2.1 jobs in Idaho for every unemployed Idahoan looking for work. (idahocapitalsun)
- Have a story about someone cutting across two lanes for jump on the Connector? How about a car trying to turn left from the right hand lane on Fairview? Or stopping in the middle of Broadway to let someone out? KTVB-TV carries a story written by Idaho Press reporter Carolyn Komatsoulis of a new online group titled "Boise — Bad Driver Spotted". Currently, over 23,000 of your neighbors belong to the group and post both complaints and apologies for their own driving. Remember, Idaho has the 18th-worst drivers in the country, according to a 2021 study. (KTVB.com)
- Our neighbors to the north are reporting a group is standing on street corners displaying a banner with a message "Its great to be white". The Lewiston Tribune's Eric Barker reports the Nez Perce Prosecutor's Office has notified local law enforcement of a group recruiting members in north central Idaho. (lmtribune)
- So you find bugs are invading your rental home and driving you nuts. You call the landlord who calls a pest control company who calls you back to set a time and calls your landlord with a cost estimate. A new Boise-based startup is trying to make the process easier and less expensive and how has some seed funding from a venture capital firm according to BoiseDev editor Don Day. Pest Share provides a software program to landlords, cutting down on time, frustration and expenses according to the company. (BoiseDev)
