Here are the top three stories in Boise today:
- The Boise Bicycle Project is officially launching a new program this week that focuses on providing families with new ways to purchase bicycles for their children. This non-profit organization will be introducing a new sliding-scale payment method that allows parents to pay what they can afford in exchange for a brand-new bicycle for their kids to enjoy all summer long. The goal is to be able to provide the community and local neighborhood children with more affordable, reliable, and sustainable options when it comes to biking. (Boise State Public Radio)
- The Idaho Workforce Development Council recently awarded the Boise State Children's Center with a $390,000 Child Care Expansion Grant. This grant will support a variety of initiatives at the center, including the state's first-ever full-inclusion preschool classroom in partnership with the university's College of Education. In addition, the funding will also help support the hiring and retention of staff as the center continues to expand its efforts within the community. (BoiseState.edu)
- Former state senator, Grant Burgoyne, is hoping to take his experience representing District 16 in the Idaho State Capitol to a more local level in Boise. Burgoyne's intent to run stems from his want to see several changes throughout the city, including zoning code rewrites, reforms to the city's impact fee process, and investing in a system of smaller homeless shelters to be placed throughout the city. He is running in District 2 and his only confirmed opponent is the recent McLean appointee City Council Member Colin Nash. (Boisedev.com)
