Welcome to the Monday edition of the Boise Daily. A summer activity in Boise is again facing a problem years old. One Boise man is charged with shooting another Boise man and Garden City is considering allowing tiny houses that can be moved around. It does not appear Boise students will be mandated to wear masks as school starts and you really need to see the fish in our last story.

Here are the top stories today in Boise:

  1. Here is a story probably written every two or three years for the past 40 years. KTVB-TV carries the video and story of a bridge jumper landing on a raft of river floaters in Boise. Two people in the raft were hospitalized for their injuries. For years, bridge jumping was illegal until law enforcement said the law was unenforceable. Signs were then placed up directing jumpers to keep outside of 50 feet of rafters. For anyone who has tubed the river, what just recently took place is of no shock and this same story will again be written within a few years. (KTVB.com)
  2. A Boise man sits in the Ada County Jail charged with felony aggravated battery in a shooting on S. Franklin Park Dr. CBS2 news staff report Russell Wageman, 40, was arrested after police investigated a shooting on Friday afternoon. The man involved had already left the scene to the hospital, but Wageman and the victim had become involved in an argument prior to the shooting. (Idaho News)
  3. Garden City is takin up the questions of what is a tiny home and what make a tiny home community? BoiseDev's Autumn Robertson writes Boise's neighbor is discussing the 400 square feet homes on wheels and exactly what code changes are needed to allow these small communities. These are not typical RVs, but small, movable homes built out of home construction materials. (boisedev)
  4. Monday night marks a vote by Boise School Board trustees on masking for the upcoming school year. IdahoEdNews reporter Kevin Richert warns there should be no surprises from the vote as districts across the state are making masks an option, not a requirement. Last week, Idaho logged 3,317 new COVID-19 cases, 199 involving K-12-aged kids, the lowest weekly count since late June. (idahoednews)
  5. We all know there is some good fishing in Idaho, but a recent catch pushes that statement to the limit. KIVI-TV's Steve Dent has the story, and more importantly the photo, of the recent catch of a new Idaho record catfish. At well over three feet long and weighing 37 pounds, this one is a handful. The good news is the Idaho record was thrown back and is still out there with maybe a few more pounds added. (kivitv)
