Today's Boise Briefing offers a variety of stories starting with Boise High School students once again catching up with teachers on the laptop instead of in person. Not due to COVID this time, the school is cleaning up some nasty asbestos. New jobs are coming to Boise and using an old building out by the airport. Not looking for a job and enjoying retirment, Dirk Koetter is back in the area after coaching in the NFL. If you have rabbits as pets, take note of a new deadly virus found out by the airport.

1. Boise High School students are back to virtual learning for a few days after asbestos was found in the building over spring break according to IdahoNews. While students were enjoying their break, school personnel were working on an upgrade to the HVAC system in the oldest high school in Boise. An asbestos pipe wrap was found and breached and a containment plan was implemented. Clean-up is expected to continue through Friday.

2. The old Shopko distribution center located one mile southwest of the airport has a new owner and will mean new jobs according to the Idaho Statesman. Azek Co., a building materials factory, has applied for a conditional use permit and has plans to hire 180 people in the next two or three years.
3. Former Boise State head coach Dirk Koetter has returned to the area after retiring from coaching at the NFL according to KTVB-TV. The former Atlanta Falcons and Tampa Bay Buccaneers coach has also brought his son, Davis, who has joined the Broncos as a grad transfer walk.

4. A new source of political news has entered the Boise area as the Idaho Capital Sun went online Wednesday. The new non-profit is part of the States Newsroom organization.
5. If you have pet rabbits, take note. A contagious disease that kills rabbits has been found in the Idaho area for the first time. Two jackrabbits were found by the Boise Airport and tested positive for Rabbit Hemorrhagic Disease (RHD) according to a report by KXLY.COM. The disease is deadly and spreads easily among rabbits, but is not known to affect other species or humans.
