🌱 Boise Cemetery Tour + Running With Five + $1 Billion Vote
The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Boise.

Morning, people of Boise! It's me again, John Braese, your host of the Boise Daily.
Welcome to the weekend edition of the Boise Daily. Neighbors in the Five Mile Road area received a notification on Thursday when a man refused to leave a house after a domestic disturbance call. Saturday is the final day for a guided tour of deaths at the Old Idaho Penitentiary, and a local runner completed a half marathon with all five of his children. The Boise Foothills are ready to hike, and a small group of voters are poised to possibly go into debt for $1 billion.

Here are the top stories in Boise today:
- A Boise man is in custody after a standoff at a home on Thursday. KTVB-TV staff report the incident started as a domestic disturbance call in a subdivision near Trestlewood Street and Five Mile Road. After almost two hours of negotiations, the man came out of the house. (KTVB)
- Saturday will be the final day for a cemetery tour of the Old Idaho Penitentiary. The Boise Weekly's Nick Danlag writes the tours include a visit to the prison's gallows and various spots where inmates were murdered. The tour also walks around the prison's cemetery grounds. (boiseweekly)
- Runners are a different breed, but Eagle father Chad Kempel has taken running to a new level. KIVI-TV's Nicole Camarda has the story of Kempel running a half marathon while pushing his quintuplets in a five-seat stroller. Kempel finished the 13.1 miles, saddled with an extra 240 pounds, in 2 hours and 19 minutes. (KIVI)
- With this great spring weather in Boise, Ridge to Rivers is urging people to get out and hike the Boise Foothills. CBS2 news staff report the trails have dried out and the snow is coming off the higher trails quickly. (Idaho News)
- A yes vote by a small number of voters could saddle future generations of homeowners with $1 billion in debt, according to BoiseDev editor Don Day. The Spring Valley Community Infrastructure District north of Eagle will go to voters in May and ask for an increase in bond authority. Only ‘qualified electors’ in the CID boundaries can vote — but if the bond issue is passed, it means future residents will be responsible for paying back the nearly $1 billion in future property taxes. - Nextdoor Neighbor, Independence Park: "Hello, neighbors. I thought I’d be a good chicken owner and let my ladies out in our yard to free range for a bit. Red, our bravest Rhode Island Red hen, decided to go on an adventure of her own. If you come across her, please let me know." (Nextdoor)

- Nextdoor Neighbor, Wilderness Ranch: "Hi neighbors: we have this lovely plant coming up in our yard in Wilderness Ranch. Does anyone know the name of this plant? Thanks for your help!" (Nextdoor)
