Hello, people of Boise! John Braese here with the Sunday issue of the Boise Daily.

Welcome to the Sunday edition of the Boise Daily. We have two stories today as the City of Boise has received notice of two tort claims filed, both involving the police department. We provide you with the dates the Interfaith Sanctuary will provide their appeal regarding a homeless shelter in the city and your electric rate is on the way up.   1. A Boise Police sergeant has filed a tort claim with the city, stating he received injuries from the current chief. KTVB-TV forwards an article originally published by the Idaho Press stating Sgt. Kirk Rush was injured by Boise Police Chief Ryan Lee during a team briefing. (KTVB.com)
  2. Boise Patch has the information on the hearing dates for the Interfaith Sanctuary appeal regarding the city's denial of a homeless shelter location on State Street. (Boise Patch)
  3. Idaho Power is stating the drought and excessive temperatures last summer are the reasons behind a request for a rate hike. CBS2 news staff report the average increase for residential customers will be $7.80 a month. Idaho Power's request is subject to public review and approval by the Idaho Public Utilities Commission.   4. In addition to the tort claim filed by a Boise Police officer, BoiseDev editor Don Day writes the city is also facing legal issues as a second family member of a man shot by Boise Police officers during a mental health crisis filed a claim for damages last month. The article also points out one of the officers involved was involved in a shooting in 2012 resulting in the death of a suicidal man. (boisedev)
